Self Assessment

 In the beginning of the course I had no idea what a rhetorical situation was or how I could determine the rhetorical situation of a writing piece. Once I saw that the rhetorical situation was related to pathos, logos and ethos, which was something that I learned in high school, it was easier for me to understand how to find the rhetorical situation of writing pieces. I do well when it comes to figuring out the messenger of a writing piece, how they are trying to send their message and to who. The part where I lacked skill in was figuring out the message of the writing piece. From our first Sourced Based Essay, it showed in my writing that I didn’t fully understand how to determine the different parts of the rhetorical situation. As we went through the course and done multiple discussion post where we had to figure out the rhetorical situation, it gave me practice on rhetorical situation. In one of our most recent writing pieces, Composition in 2 Genres, I showed my full understanding of rhetorical situation by creating my own pieces of writing and explaining the rhetorical situation. I will continue to use the skills I have learned throughout this course in the rest of my college years.
